 The Heart of the Matter

Matthew 15:18 – But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart,

  • Why is it important for us to recognize what is in our heart?

Proverbs 4:23 – Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

  • How can we guard our heart?

Love Forgives

1 Corinthians 13:5 [Love] is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Why is it important that love keeps no record of wrongs?

PJ said, “Forgiveness keeps wrongs out our your heart.”

  •           What does this mean?
  •           What happens when we hold on to the wrongs done to us?

Do you feel like when you forgive someone you are letting them get away with what they did? If so, why should you forgive them anyway?

“Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die from it.”  What does this mean?  How does not forgiving others hurt us?

Make it personal

How does your response to people mistreating you show what’s in your heart?

What are some healthy things you can do when you are angry at someone?
