Describe a time when you made a good change in your life (anything from starting to study more to exercising to following God).  What started the change? What steps did you take. Was it difficult along the way?

Why do you think change can be hard?

Have you ever known you needed to change but had a hard time doing it? Why?

Truth

Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:31-32

  • How is it that the truth sets free?
  • How can a lie bind you up?

What’s wrong with the following phrase:
“What’s true for one person might not be true for another person.”
What do you think the motivation behind a phrase like this is?

Morality

Why do you think that so many people don’t want to believe in moral truth?

Why is it important to know that morality doesn’t just come from you but that it comes from God?

Why do you think people get mad if you call something they are doing a sin?

What should be your response if you realize something you are doing is a sin?

How do you feel when the biblical standards of morality come in conflict with the world’s standards of morality? Especially on things such as homosexual acts, transgender, and sex outside of marriage.

Light

“You are the light of the world… let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. -Matt 5:14-16

How can we be a light of truth to the world today?

If you have a friend who is a Christian that is regularly sinning in some way, what should you do?

If you have a friend who is NOT a Christian who is regularly sinning, what should you do?
