Conviction is when you become convinced that something is true.  We often feel convicted when we become aware of sin in our lives.

  • What does conviction feel like?
  • Why is conviction about sin a good thing?
  • What things bring conviction?

We can become callous to our sin to where it doesn’t bother us anymore.

  • How do we become callous to sin?
  • What are some ways we can recognize callousness in our own lives?
  • What can we do about it?

2 Corinthians 7:10 – Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Often times when we feel “Godly sorrow” (conviction) we push those feelings away. Why do we do that?

What is the danger of pushing away Godly sorrow?

How can we use Godly sorrow to help us change?

Why do we sometimes feel good about feeling convicted even when we don’t actually make any change?

Make it personal

These next couple of questions will take a lot of trust in the group and a lot of courage to actually share.  Let’s be sure to be respectful of each other during this time.

Are there any sins that you feel you have gotten callous about?

Have you ever felt the Spirit telling you not to do something and ignored that voice?

Is there something in your life you have been convicted about that we can pray for true repentance?
