In a discussion like we are having today, it is important that we keep our conversion holy and not vulgar or crude.  It is good for us to discuss the topic of sex as long as we do it in a way that honors God.

Where do you think most people your age get the majority of their information about sex? (examples: friends, tik tok, google, movies, parents, Bible)

What is the primary message to you about sex from these sources?

  • Parents
  • Church

 Bible study

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 – It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;  that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable,  not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God.

How would you define sexual immorality?

How do you think a Biblical view of sexual immorality differs from the world’s view?

Living in Purity

Paul’s command to us on how to stay sexually pure is:

Flee from sexual immorality. -1 Corinthians 6:18

Why do you think he uses the word “flee” to describe how we should respond?

How is this different than how many Christians treat sexual immorality?

What are some practical things you can do to live this out?

Keys to fleeing

Avoid the rush to the physical.  Why do some people think that just because they are dating they need to have a physical relationship?

Don’t be alone. How can the decision not to be alone with someone you are dating help you stay pure?  What makes this a challenge?

Make pre-decision decisions.  Why is it important to make decisions about what you will and won’t do BEFORE you start dating?  What are some decisions you should make?

Don’t date someone that doesn’t share your convictions.  Why is this important when it comes to purity?

Decide what’s feeding your fire and get rid of it.  What kinds of things can make it more difficult to flee sexual immorality.
